EVERY HOUSE HAS A THOUSAND STORIES

I think of houses as more than just structures built to provide shelter or a space to live in. They are like repositories or libraries that hold within their walls a lifetime of memories and stories. Each and every one of them has a unique character that has been shaped by the people who lived there, the events that took place, and the experiences that were shared.
It’s a sad reality that many old houses are slated for demolition, making way for new developments or modern structures which in their own right will foster new memories and stories.

I can’t help but feel a sense of loss at the thought of all those stories being lost forever. Even though these stories might not be relevant to anyone outside of the previous families or occupants, they still hold significance and value.

Through my paintings, I hope to immortalize these houses and their stories, so that they are not forgotten. Each colour, brush stroke, or drawn line is a homage to the lives that were lived within the walls of these homes. My artwork serves as a reminder of the beauty and significance of these personal histories.

In the end, these old houses are more than just buildings or structures. They are symbols of our collective history and memory, and as such, they deserve to be remembered and celebrated. Through my paintings, I hope to contribute to the preservation of our history, one house at a time.
